Interview with the Artist
my mess became my message.
Dedicated topromoting awareness surrounding mental health ,domestic violence and services,Drawn from empathy of others and personal experiences. Art facilitates healinggiving me voice and purpose.
My works reflect a well thought out practise of abstract,figurative imagery consistent of a contemporary approach to impressionism ,I amfascinated by concepts that push boundaries .my somewhat misplaced use ofcolour conveys a sense of nonconformity and unconventional beauty.
I’m blessed to liveon the coast of Australia ,my back yard is the lake and bushland inspiring my subject matter.
I leave space for myaudience to interpret their own meanings thoughts and feelings , Inviting myaudience to a place of connected energy between artist and viewer

The lonely chairs project is a community based project aimed at bringing awarness and researching domestic violence , each chair has been donated or found unwanted and restored from something broken to something beautiful and made into a beautiful art piece ready for exhibition and auction, A workshop for DV survivors will be made available where individuals can learn to paint as a form of healing from trauma and guve individuals a voice when yhere story along side with there arteork will be published onto social media The launch of the lonely chairs is just around the corner , subscribe to the site to see updates

Artist CV and Bio
Skye Elizabeth James is an artist from east coastAustralia. Skye has practised across different mediums since completing herfine Arts diploma in 2004.
Over the 17 years since, Skye has practisedphotography and contemporary abstract painting, working with darkroom expertLes Porter, exhibiting works in Newcastle museum , published in White magazine,marketing work in stores such as Pollyanna & me and the wilderness society. Community work with Red Cross and Westpac helicopter whilst teaching photographyand paper crafts for over 10yrs
2020 Skye dedicated her Art Practice toraising awareness to mental health stigma and domestic violence ,issues closeto her heart from exposures to trauma, her series the lonely chairs finalist inthe council awesome awards .
2021 ATIM publishing Skye’s works twice ,receiving a collectors choice award and featured with 50 international artistsadvocating for human rights and social issues.
June 2021 Skye exhibits with Las LagunaGallery in group exhibitions "painterly"and"textures"
2021Skye received an honourable mention in Fusions4th annual women's choice award,she exhibited with Palliative Care Australia.
Skye is Participating in currenttouring photography exhibition " Out of the Mist- Reflections of MentalHealth" whilst working on community projects such as “The lonely Chairs”which she hopes to Launch 2022 to helpgive woman a voice when escaping violence !!! Skye announced inclusion to theonline group exhibition with the Contemporary Art Curator Magazine. Exhibitionperiod: February 21 - July 21, 2022 Online Exhibition 'Butterfly Effect’.Whilst exhibiting with Contemporary Art Curator Skye was awarded the Visions ofTomorrow Art Award for her art practice acknowledging her involvement in artactivism and her goals to address social and human rights issues through artpractise. You can also find Skye on “tellcraig your story” a podcast in Shanghai where she isinterviewed about her growing art career, and gives insight into Skye’slife and ambitions .
